Distribution of kakis

It was a great privilege to participate in the distribution of “kakis” (school uniforms) and soccer balls in the Dangbo region of Benin in November 2011. The Beninese children we met during the trip showed gratitude and a love of life that really touched me personally.

Being able to give these things away was made possible by donations from many friends in Canada. I thank them! A child in Benin is only permitted to attend school if he or she has a school uniform, so it is crucial for the children to have one so they can learn to read and write. A donation toward the sewing of a “kaki” is a way to invest in a child’s life and to open a window on a better future for him or her.
